Hey everybody, Jason here with PCs and I’m with Andrew from Voyager Express. Andrew, how long have you guys been customers of PCs?
Oh, over 10 years for sure. We’re grateful for that partnership that we have.
How big is your fleet size now?
Today, we’re around 150 active trucks on the road, rolling across probably three main departments. We do intermodal air, we do over the road, and then we have a local shuttle division.
Awesome. So those are three complex things all in their home.
Yeah, you do through PCs.
So how does PCs help you navigate the three different things or bring them all together in one place?
Sure. One of the main reasons we came to PCs was the intermodal aspect of the TMS. Combining that with our truckload as well as having the accounting piece all in one has been super helpful for us. The shuttle operation is a little bit different, although it’s not unlike some tanker stuff. The system supports all the steps that we have to go through, and we found a way to handle the hourly billing and all that through the system as well. So it’s helped keep us centralized.
I love that and I love your size, you know, around 150 to 200 trucks. Some people say that our accounting isn’t powerful enough, and we’re only making it better. But you guys have been with us 10 years, so you’ve been through the changes that we’ve done. How has that accounting module helped you?
Yeah, I know that through the years we’ve added features—some of them we’ve requested, others we worked with y’all to streamline our operation as well. Maybe we weren’t using the tool as well as we could have, so we’ve improved that significantly. I think it would be a lot harder for us as a company to use a third-party accounting tool for sure, even if it had more capabilities. We’ve learned to work within the system, and it’s worked out for us.
I’ve heard people trying to get off of Great Plains or QuickBooks. Really, what we’ve built is just a simple accounting software, and then we’ve been able to customize your fleet.
Yeah, yeah. And we’re trying to bring our maintenance back into PCs. We started using more of the accounting tools for purchase orders and tracking approvals for expenses, which we hadn’t used in the past, although the system supports it. Maintenance is only getting better, so you’re going to have what you see here as we’ve been done to that.
Oh yeah, we’re really excited about that.
What is one thing that you guys have noticed from using the Cortex AI?
Assigning loads to a driver—there are some tools in the system to do that through reservations, but oftentimes we can’t because of the nature of the planning. We get a lot of customer loads over one day, hundreds of loads coming through for the week ahead. Normally we would have to either use a reservation or assign those manually. This AI helping us with that has been a huge time saver for our planners. That’s really been handy, and we do have a lot of short-distance trips that drivers regularly do. The system has been identifying that, so we’re excited to see how that could save us time.
I love that because that’s one thing we’ve designed it for—to learn which drivers are doing what, whether they have the right hours of service, and if they have time for it. So it’s tracking and building an app inside of your Genesis and then RV.
Yeah, our dispatchers are just able to quickly take a look and say that looks right and then go down the third day.
And that’s the whole idea of it, right? Time and increasing efficiency.
That’s right.
Cool. Well, we appreciate you guys as a customer.
Awesome. Thank you.
Thank you.
Yep.
