Long Form Black Ice Transport Interview
Hey everybody, it’s Jason here with PCs.
Hello, I’m Jasmine from Black Ice Transport.
Jasmine, how long have you been a PCS customer?
We have been a customer for about eight or nine years.
Y’all have been great, right?
Yes, always, always. Nothing but good things to say about PCS.
If you remember, how was your onboarding process?
So I actually wasn’t there for the onboarding because I’ve only been with the company for about three and a half years. When I came, we were already working with PCS and getting things going through there.
In the last three and a half years, when you’ve had issues or custom things you wanted to make the TMS your own, how responsive have we been?
Oh my gosh, when I tell you we send a message and you’ll get back to us within about an hour or at least by the end of the day. Y’all’s response time is so fast. Any little issue we have, any little thing we need fixed, you literally resolve it within the day.
One thing that we really pride ourselves on is having a TMS that’s customizable. We have such a good team that can make your TMS unique compared to others.
How do your drivers like using it?
It’s really easy to teach them how. We don’t have our drivers using it right now, but it’s something we would like to implement. I feel we would need a little training course because they take more time to learn since they’re always on the road. They try to learn fast, and that’s why it’s been taking us time to get them onboarded. We have so many drivers, and getting them all trained is hard.
What’s the most effective tool you use in PCS to streamline or create revenue?
I came from the accounting department, so I’m not much on the dispatching side, but I am now integrating into safety. Before, when I was in accounting, the reports were amazing. If I needed something quick—like miles driven or fuel used—I would go to the reports and have my answers immediately. Insurance asks for reports, and many other places do too, and PCS helps us with that. I love that. I think a lot of people don’t realize how many reports we have in there.
We’ve been hearing about Cortex and what we’re launching. What’s something you’re most excited for?
Oh my gosh, I’m going back to the reports. I’m such a report person. Sometimes I have to look through every tab to find what I need, but having a search feature to type in the report I need and pull it all in one place is like Nirvana to me. When it’s true natural language, so someone like me can just say, “I want the mileage from yesterday,” and it pulls it—or for all of last month—that’s perfect. Quarterly, biweekly, whatever I need, natural language will make us more efficient. I can’t wait to get back to the office and say, “We need this today!”
What’s the number one way you’ve used PCS to run your team more efficiently or help operations?
Just the other day, one of our dispatchers asked how many loads we did of a specific type. I went into Dispatch Manager, location to location, for however long I needed, and it was all right there. I love that you can type in a truck number and everything comes down from there. All of us in the office use it. It’s something we can all go back to when we need answers. We’re not lost—we can all be on the same page and see the exact same thing.
